On his first handoff of the afternoon, Saquon Barkley cut back against the grain, split the Giants’ second level, and didn’t stop until he reached the end zone 65 yards from where he started. That run set the tone for everything that followed at Lincoln Financial Field.

Philadelphia ran for 276 yards, held Jaxson Dart under constant pressure with a season-high five sacks, and handed New York a loss that was never seriously in question after the first quarter. Jalen Hurts finished 15-of-20 for 179 yards, four touchdowns, and a 141.5 passer rating. Barkley — who had not cracked 100 rushing yards in any game through the season’s first seven weeks — carried 14 times for 150 yards before exiting late in the third quarter with a groin strain he later described as minor. Backup Tank Bigsby ran for 104 yards behind him, making Philadelphia the first team since LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown did it against Chicago in December 2013 to have two running backs each surpass 100 yards in the same game.

New York had won the first meeting 34-17 two weeks earlier. There was no repeat at home for the Giants. They fell to 2-6 and lost rookie running back Cam Skattebo to a dislocated right ankle in the second quarter, an injury that required surgery the same night.

Barkley’s groin strain turned out to be a footnote. The Eagles entered their bye at 6-2 with their ground game fully restored — 276 rushing yards at 8.4 per carry against a Giants defense that had kept the league’s better offenses honest earlier in October. A Philadelphia pass rush that had been largely quiet through the first half of the season produced five sacks in a single afternoon. Hurts went zero interceptions in 20 attempts, spread four touchdown passes across three receivers, and converted all three of the Eagles’ red zone trips. First-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, whose early playcalling had drawn scrutiny from the fanbase, had the offense operating at its clearest level since the Super Bowl run a year prior.

For New York, the cart that carried Cam Skattebo off the field at 2-6 told the story of where the Giants stood at the halfway point of their 2025 season. Skattebo had been their most dependable offensive player over the preceding month — an 18-yard touchdown catch off Jaxson Dart had briefly tied the game in the first quarter before the afternoon unraveled. He left Philadelphia on his way to surgery. Dart said afterward he hated losing and refused to accept it as normal. The numbers from Week 8, though, were hard for any team to overcome: 246 total yards, 68 rushing yards, and a defense that surrendered nearly 300 yards on the ground to a running back who had spent the week after returning to his old city.
