Brock Purdy finished 23-of-30 for 295 yards and three touchdowns, and the San Francisco 49ers put together one of their most complete offensive performances of the 2025 regular season โ going the entire afternoon without a single punt in a 37โ24 win over the Tennessee Titans at Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco scored on its first five possessions for the first time since 2021, held the ball for 37 minutes, and converted 9 of 15 third downs while piling up 430 total yards. On the other sideline, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons produced one of the more unusual box scores of the season โ a strip sack, a forced fumble, and a touchdown catch in the same game โ making him just the sixth player to accomplish that combination since the NFL began tracking sacks in 1982.

Injuries
Tennessee: S Xavier Woods (hamstring), S Mike Brown (ankle), and S Kevin Winston Jr. (hamstring) all left in the first half and did not return. G Kevin Zeitler (groin), WR Van Jefferson (back), and LB Cedric Gray (concussion) exited in the second half.
San Francisco: DT Jordan Elliott was scratched before kickoff with a knee injury. WR Ricky Pearsall hurt his ankle on the game’s opening play, returned, and finished with six receptions for 96 yards before re-aggravating a pre-existing PCL injury late in the fourth quarter โ his availability for subsequent weeks was uncertain. OL Spencer Burford (ankle) exited and returned.
Game Notes
San Francisco went the entire game without punting โ converting its first five possessions for the first time since the 2021 season.
The 49ers converted their first seven third-down attempts, the first time the franchise had done that since Oct. 2, 2016 against Dallas. The longest such streak to open a game in franchise history came when Joe Montana’s unit ran off more in a 24โ17 win over Tampa Bay on Nov. 18, 1984, per the Elias Sports Bureau.
Jeffery Simmons’ sack, forced fumble, and touchdown reception in the same game made him only the sixth player to accomplish that combination since sacks became an official NFL stat in 1982 โ J.J. Watt (twice, Houston, 2014), Mike Vrabel (2007), Jared Allen (2017), and Barry Krauss (1982) are the others.
Left tackle Trent Williams earned a career-high 95.6 PFF grade, per 49ers.com post-game reporting.
Tennessee had not won consecutive games since November 2022 and finished the week tied for the worst record in the NFL at 2โ12.

San Francisco’s 10โ4 record after the win left the 49ers one victory away from clinching a playoff berth with three weeks left in the regular season. Purdy’s afternoon โ 140.3 passer rating, zero turnovers, a 26-yard scramble on a day his offense never once gave the ball back to the punter โ was the kind of performance that reminded everyone what this offense looks like when it’s operating without interruption. Tennessee’s 2โ12 finish to the day told a different story, though Simmons at least gave the Titans faithful something worth remembering from an otherwise difficult December.
Sources: ESPN box score, Associated Press, 49ers.com. Individual passing yards (295) reflect gross figures; net passing (292) in team stats accounts for sack yardage lost.
Claire R. Conant is the founder and editor of The Press Row. Born and raised in New York, she spent years covering professional sports across multiple leagues before launching this publication in April 2026, largely out of frustration with a sports media industry that had decided moving fast mattered more than being right. Her reporting covers the NFL, NBA, MLB, cricket, and international football, and every figure published under her byline is verified against official data before the piece moves. She started The Press Row because she believed readers who actually understood the game deserved a publication built to the same standard. That standard has not changed since day one, and it applies to every writer on staff.
